MAX FACTOR CLUMP DEFY MASCARA

As you'll have probably seen in one of my previous post I finally got my hands on the Max Factor Clump Defy Mascara, which is supposed to be an european dupe for the Cover Girl one. I've had quite high hopes for it and thought it might become me new favourite mascara, but.. it’s not. However, it’s a perfectly good everyday mascara, it just doesn’t create the wow factor on the lashes.

The consistency of the formula is right in the middle – not wet, not dry and I picked mine in the black, non waterproof version. The packaging is pretty and sleek with nicely shaped brush, which is just the right size to coat all the lashes, even the bottom ones. But there’s one quite significant issue with the bristles on this brush - maybe they’re to “long”, since they cause the mascara to go on the lid “behind” the lashes too – so when I don’t wear a dark liner, I need to be very careful and precise not to destroy my eye makeup close to the lash line. Otherwise it doesn't transfer or create any fall outs.

In terms of the effect on the eyes – it’s amazing at separating each and every lash – no clumps at all. It also gives a nice length and deep black colour, but unfortunately there’s no volume involved. At least nothing like when I use my all time favourite Maybelline The Rocket Mascara.
All in all I like this mascara for an everyday use – It provides natural look, and the brush makes it easy to cote both top and bottom lashes, adding some nice length to them. Unfortunately, I won't repurchase it again and it certainly won't make it to my favourites, but I’ll use it up, since it’s ok everyday mascara.

So what’s your opinion on this Max Factor Clump Defy Mascara? Do you like this particular one or maybe the others from Max Factor are better? What are you recommendation in terms of drugstore mascaras? Let me know down in the comments!

KISSES,

  2. This sounds really good, I love how it doesn't clump as that's rare to find in a mascara! It's a shame it applies to this lid but I'm yet to find a mascara that doesn't have some sort of problem haha

    1. I actually found quite a good one some time ago - it was SuperShock Mascara from Avon, but then I wanted to try sth else and now I need to go back to it, because it was great and unbelievably affordable - around 5€/4£ ;)

  4. I think the name would put me off - "Clump" defy! It's not the prettiest name for a product! I really like the Wet n Wild mascaras - they're cheap as chips and are pretty great quality for under five euro x

    1. Thank you ;) What's your opinion on the one in black packaging - False Lash Effect? I was torn between this and the Clump Defy, and now I don't know if I choose well, maybe the black one is better..?

  10. That's a shame you weren't so keen on it in the end! I really like the Maybelline Rocket Volume too, definitely one of my favourite drugstore options! I really need to try more Max Factor products, I've only ever tried their creme puff blushes but I love them!! x

    1. Before this mascara I also had only been using the creme puff blush and loved it from the first sight. But I won't give up on the mascaras - there's one more I need to try from this brand - the False Lash Effect in black packaging.. I hope it turn out better ;)

    1. I guess it's just that - some people find it amazing, I like it for everyday, but definitely won't repurchase. I'm curious how you like this mascara, if you get to try it - let me know! ;)

  12. I haven't tried this particular one but I generally thought Max Factor mascaras were quite good, maybe the false lash effect would be better at adding volume :)

  13. Thank you for the honest review! I like the sound of separated lashes, but don't like the sound of it applying on the eye lid as well. I never have enough in the morning to fix up makeup mistakes haha. I think I've tried the Covergirl version but it was so long ago I don't remember what I thought! Maybe that's a sign that it didn't wow me haha x

    1. Yes, it's time consuming, especially in the morning rush ;) But if you want nice lashes and quickly - I truly recommend Maybelline the Rocket mascara or Avon Supershock - they're both amazing, and I've been through so many of tchem ;)

  16. Hmm I think I have tried this one, but since I don't remember much about it, suffice to say it didn't make much of an impression! The wand does look very promising (I like wands with a curve because I feel that they push my lashes up. This could be purely in my head but you know what I mean), but I don't need a mascara that adds no volume!

    1. I get the feeling with the wand too ;) I used this mascara yesterday as a second step with Maybelline the Rocket and it gave pretty nice effect - first the volume and the blackest black colour from Maybelline and then the separation and length from Max Factor ;) But it's too much of a fuss for everyday, I suppose.
